07.06.2019 | Alexey Belinsky told at SPIEF-2019 about the implementation of predictive analytics in the locomotive maintenance

CEO of Ctrl2GO group of companies, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LocoTech group of companies Alexey Belinsky took part in the session on "Shaping the industry of the future. Digital Technologies in the Industry", which was held on June 6 within the first day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

During the discussion, Alexey Belinsky presented an example of the successful application of innovative developments in the rail industry of Russia. In his speech, he described the experience in the implementation Ctrl@maintenance solution to service maintenance of locomotives by LocoTech GC. The solution has been developed by Clover Group (part of the Ctrl2GO GC) based on the predictive analytics technology and artificial intelligence.

In 2016, LocoTech GC announced a competition for a solution that would allow to predict the failure of locomotives, equipment failures between scheduled overhauls. Based on the results the Russian company Clover Group was selected, which provided a workable prototype and proved that using big data can predict equipment failure.

"The task was not easy. We have detected anomalies in the behaviour of the machines, composed physical models of the locomotive units to explain the nature of their origin. True cost-effectiveness required integration with enterprise resource planning systems, which allowed to implement the distribution of spare parts and additional works even before the locomotive repair ", noted Director General of the Ctrl2GO group of companies.

- For now, thanks to the introduction Ctrl@maintenance solution, we managed to reduce unproductive downtime of locomotives to 22%. If the rest of group products are comprehensively integrated to the processes, the locomotive idle time in repair can be totally reduced four times".

The project is currently implemented in the LocoTech GC and provides a "smart service" nearly of a third of the entire fleet of locomotives in the Russian Railways (7500 locomotive sections) in 59 service depots.

Alexey Belinsky highlighted that the solutions of the Ctrl2GO group of companies have export potential and can be used for machinery and equipment in various industries.

The session was also attended by Oleg Bocharov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Viktor Vekselberg, Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Renova GC, Vladimir Dmitriev, Director General of JSC Kalashnikov Concern, Vladimir Potanin, President and Board of Directors Chairman of PJSC GMK Norilsk Nickel, Yuri Slusar, President of PJSC United Aircraft Corporation, Peter Terwiesch, President for industrial automation, a member of the Executive Committee of ABB Ltd group and other speakers.
